Post’s $10,000 donation will provide more than 30 grants to military children across the United States

Lakeville, Minn. – Post Consumer Brands is committed to giving back to those in our communities and this includes Veteran and military heroes. To honor that commitment, Post is donating $10,000 to Virginia-based nonprofit Our Military Kids.

Our Military Kids’ mission is to empower military kids by funding sports, arts and other enrichment activities when their parents are deployed overseas with the National Guard or Reserves, or recovering from severe injuries sustained in a post-9/11 overseas mission. Post’s donation will provide more than 30 grants for extracurricular activities to military children across the United States.

“We understand the difficulties faced by military families. At Post, many of our team members are Veterans, me included,” said Howard Friedman, President & CEO of Post Consumer Brands, “These patriots have served our country and making sure their children are taken care of at home is just one way we can show our support. We’re proud to be partnering with Our Military Kids as they continue this great and empowering work.”

“I truly believe it’s a matter of military readiness to recognize the service and sacrifice of military children during a period of deployment and recovery. It helps the family as a whole to acknowledge that everyone serves when a parent is deployed, and everyone should flourish during this time rather than be burdened by feelings of doubt and fear,” said Kara Dallman, Executive Director of Our Military Kids and Navy Veteran.

National Guard and Reserve families often face barriers to accessing necessary support services. When individuals are deployed, their families may face a loss of income or other challenges. Our Military Kids offers a simple grant program to help fill some of the gaps, paying for their children’s activities. From cooking classes to horseback riding, these activities give military children the opportunity to learn something new and flourish during an otherwise stressful time in their lives.
