Grape-Nuts cereal ad from 1897

The Grape-Nuts story

Developed in 1897 by C.W. Post, Grape-Nuts cereal has been a part of American history for generations as a morning staple and a healthy (and surprising!) recipe ingredient.

Grape-Nuts doesn’t actually contain any grapes or nuts. So where’d the name come from? There are two versions of the story. One says that Mr. Post believed glucose, which he called “grape sugar,” formed during the baking process. This, combined with the nutty flavor of the cereal, is said to have inspired its name. Another explanation claims the cereal got its name from its resemblance to grape seeds, or grape “nuts.” Either way, Grape-Nuts is packed full of goodness!
