Post Consumer Brands is celebrating two milestone anniversaries over the next 12 months — 100 years for the Malt-O-Meal brand and 125 years for the Post brand. To commemorate these milestones, we will host celebrations and donate $250,000 to local hunger relief organizations in 10 of the communities across the U.S. and Canada where we operate. The anniversary events and charitable donations represent our appreciation for our dedicated team members and our continued commitment to feeding families in need across North America. Northfield celebration welcomes winter weather
Snow flurries and 30-degree weather didn’t stop the Northfield, Minn. teams from celebrating our anniversaries this past Saturday. Fueled by a morning community breakfast, the Dundas Dome – a large indoor soccer complex in Northfield – was buzzing with excitement and activity. Kids and adults alike enjoyed blowup amusement rides, mini-golf, face painting, and games.
In front of an oversized inflatable bag of Malt-O-Meal Tootie Fruities® cereal, Howard Friedman, Post Consumer Brands’ President & CEO, presented Matt Hillmann, Northfield Public Schools Superintendent, with a $25,000 donation for the Northfield School Lunch Program. To celebrate our legacy of feeding families, this donation will go to feed students in the Northfield community.
Feeding students in need
Northfield Public Schools will distribute the $25,000 donation among three groups, the Alternative Learning Center (ALC) Backpack Program, Angel Fund, and Greenvale Park Community School, according to Northfield Public Schools Superintendent Matt Hillmann. The ALC Backpack Program helps food-insecure students, sending them home with a bag filled with healthy foods each weekend. The Angel Fund gives meals to families who struggle to afford food. Greenvale Park Community School hosts free community dinners from families with students.
Making cereal in Northfield since 1927
Post Consumer Brands operates two facilities in Northfield, Minn. — the Ames Mill, which became home to Malt-O-Meal hot cereal production in 1927 and remains the primary production facility for the original Malt-O-Meal hot cereal today, and the Campbell Mill, which the company purchased in 1965 and renamed in honor of company founder John Campbell. We employ 600 people in Northfield. In addition to the original Malt-O-Meal hot cereal, the two facilities produce more than 45 varieties of Post and Malt-O-Meal cereals, totaling more than 300 million pounds each year.
Our next anniversary celebration will take place on Tuesday, October 15th in Cobourg, Ontario.
