To celebrate Hunger Action Month, we’re recognizing a few ways our teams’ have supported unique hunger relief efforts this past year.
Filling the gap
In January, our dedicated Supply Chain teams coordinated a donation of more than 41,000 pounds of cereal to Feeding America’s effort to ease the burden on local food pantries during the government shut down. That’s equal to two truckloads of product, or roughly 34,000 boxes and bags of cereal.
Fighting food waste
One-third of the food wasted in the U.S. contains enough nutrition to eliminate food insecurity. That’s according to Robert Lee who founded Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC). RLC saves excess food and gets it to the people who need it at homeless shelters and food pantries. Barbara’s® wholesome cereals and snacks donated $5,000 to Robert’s efforts this year.
Committing more to hunger relief
As we celebrate Post Consumer Brands’ milestone anniversaries — 125 years for Post and 100 years for Malt-O-Meal — there’s no better way to honor our legacy of feeding families than to help those who struggle with hunger in our communities.
That’s why, in addition to the 20-plus million bowls of cereal we donated to hunger relief efforts last year, we are donating another $250,000 to help fight hunger in the communities where we live and work.
We continue our founders’ legacy by producing a wide variety of great-tasting, high-quality cereals for households across North America and by supporting hunger relief with local and national organizations like Feeding America, Second Harvest Heartland and Food Banks Canada.
