Raisin Nut Scones


    • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
    • ¼ cup Malt-O-Meal® Maple & Brown Sugar Hot Wheat Cereal, dry
    • 2 tablespoons sugar
    • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • ½ cup butter or margarine
    • ½ cup raisins
    • ½ cup finely chopped nuts
    • 1 egg, beaten
    • 1/3 cup milk


    • 1 egg, beaten
    • granulated sugar


Heat oven to 400°F. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, cereal, sugar, baking powder and salt, mix well. Cut in butter with pasty blender until mixture is crumbly. Add raisins, nuts, 1 egg, and milk; stir until moistened. On floured surface, gently knead dough ten times; divide in half. Roll each half into 6-inch circle. Cut each half into 6 wedges. Place on ungreased cookie sheet about 1 inch apart. Brush with egg and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 400°F. for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve warm. Yield: 12 scones.
