Cherry Cobbler


  • 3 cups (1 ½ cans) cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup ORIGINAL MALT-O-MEAL®, dry
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup margarine or butter
  • ¼ cup vegetable shortening
  • 1/3 cup water


Heat oven to 375°F. Place pie filling in 2-quart shallow baking dish or casserole. Heat at 375°F. for 15 minutes. Meanwhile in mixing bowl, combine flour, cereal, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in margarine and shortening until mixture is fine particles. Add water; stir just until blended. Drop spoonfuls of topping onto heated pie filing. Bake at 375°F. for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm. Yield: 6 servings.
