Celebrate Earth Day 2025 with Post

Post employees assemble meal packets

Each year on April 22, Earth Day serves as a powerful reminder that the health of our planet is in our hands. Earth Day was first observed in 1970 and has since become a global event, uniting millions in efforts to reduce pollution and safeguard natural resources. 2025 is no different.

From responsible sourcing to reducing waste, decisions made by companies in the food consumer packaged goods industry are shaping the future of the planet.

Earth Day is the perfect opportunity to look at the efforts Post Consumer Brandsis taking to build a greener tomorrow.

Packaging Innovation

Packaging teams are working to reduce the volume of packaging material and identify new approaches to limit the impact of our packaging to keep the impact of our packaging low while providing safe and high-quality products.

Post has reached a milestone with approximately 90% of cereal packaging, by weight, now made from recycled content or renewable resources and also designed to be recyclable and we aren’t stopping there. With the efforts of our packaging experts and research and development team, our goal is to increase this number in 2025.

Waste Minimization

Postaims to eliminate food waste at the source. The Niagara Falls plant has been zero waste to landfill for nearly a decade, ensuring waste is recycled, converted to energy, or upcycled as animal feed on local farms. Several other Post sites are nearing zero waste, with 2% or less waste going to the landfill last year. Overall, Post Consumer Brands achieved 95% landfill diversion in fiscal year 2024.

Community Engagement

Community engagement is one of our proudest traditions. Post has made a significant impact through our Ingredients for Good Program, an annual volunteer initiative that encourages employees to give back to their communities. In 2024, more than 1,300 employees volunteered over 1,600 hours. Volunteers donated or packed over 94,000 meals. Learn more about our impact on local communities.

We believe sustainability is a shared responsibility and we’re proud of the initiatives we’ve implemented to make a positive impact on our planet. From reducing waste to supporting our local communities, we are committed to creating a better future for people, pets and the planet.

As we celebrate Earth Day, we recognize the journey toward a healthier planet is ongoing and requires us all to do our part. We encourage everyone, from our employees to our consumers, to join us in making sustainable choices and giving back to our communities.
