ASHEBORO, N.C., Aug. 5, 2020 – Post Consumer Brands in Asheboro, N.C., today announced donations totaling $35,000 to two local nonprofits — $10,000 to the United Way of Randolph County and $25,000 to the Christians United Outreach Center to support local hunger relief efforts.

The $10,000 donation to the United Way of Randolph County is being made in place of the company’s annual “Cereal Day for United Way” community cereal sale, which is typically held in late September. The company is cancelling this year’s event due to statewide COVID-19 restrictions around gatherings and continued safety efforts to slow the spread of the disease. Launched in 2010, the popular “Cereal Day for United Way” event has raised $100,000 over its previous 10 years for the United Way of Randolph County through the sale of boxes and bags of Post® and Malt-O-Meal® branded cereals for just $1 each to people in the community.

The $25,000 donation to the Christians United Outreach Center was made in honor of two major company milestones — the 125th anniversary of the Post brand and the 100th anniversary of the Malt-O-Meal brand. This donation serves as a way for the company to show its gratitude to its employees and communities for their roles in the company’s success.

“Post Consumer Brands has a long history of giving back and helping to feed families — not only by making a delicious variety of cereals for everyone in the family to enjoy, but also by supporting hunger relief efforts,” said Amy Cernava, Post Consumer Brands Asheboro Plant Manager. “This is a unique time, and we want to continue to do our part to help those in need. We’re also incredibly grateful to our Asheboro team members who have been working diligently through the pandemic to meet increased demand and keep cereals on families’ tables across the country.”

The Post Consumer Brands Asheboro plant recently recorded its two highest production months ever in April and June 2020. The plant makes more than 40 different varieties of cereals, including the new Post Dunkin’™ Caramel Macchiato and Mocha Latte cereals, which are rolling out nationwide in August 2020. The company employs approximately 230 people at its Asheboro plant and is currently hiring.
