Cinnamon Crunchy French Toast


With a coating of Malt-O-Meal® Cinnamon Toasters® cereal fried to golden perfection, you won't even need syrup to enjoy this Cinnamon Crunchy French Toast. Impress your family and friends with this oh-so-fancy-take on French toast.

Malt O Meal cinnamon crunchy french toast recipe


  • 6-8 slices thick and stale brioche, challah or any other bread
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk or buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 5-6 cups Malt-O-Meal® Cinnamon Toasters® cereal
  • 2-3 tablespoons butter


  1. Place the cereal in a zip-top bag and with your hands or rolling pin ground into tiny pieces. Pour into a shallow bowl
  2. In a bowl, whip the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon and salt. Pour custard into a shallow bowl
  3. Soak the bread on both sides for 20 seconds into the milk mixture. Drain excess
  4. Place the soaked bread into the ground cereal and coat on both sides
  5. Melt butter in a skillet over medium-low heat
  6. Place bread on the skillet and cook on both sides until golden brown being careful not to burn it. About 3-4 minutes
  7. Remove from heat and enjoy!
  8. If desired, pour maple syrup over the french toast
