New craft beer celebrates hometown connection and the classic taste of Honey Bunches of Oats cereal.
Breakfast meets the brewery as Post Consumer Brands has partnered with Lakeville Brewing Company to launch a new craft beer, “Honey Bunches of Blonde”, inspired by the familiar flavors of Honey Bunches of Oats™ Honey Roasted cereal.
“Lakeville Brewing is the perfect partner to showcase the great flavor of Honey Bunches of Oats to our community,” Krista Mehren, VP Research & Development, said. “Honey Bunches of Oats is a breakfast staple and the ideal product for this collaboration.”
The light style blonde ale features sweet honey notes, a touch of toasted grain, and a crisp finish that captures the taste that has filled breakfast bowls for generations. This new limited-edition brew is on tap now at Lakeville Brewing Company and is expected to be available through mid-September.
The process to bring Honey Bunches of Blonde to life included pilot batches to dial in a flavor profile of the base beer. Once the full-size batch beer was close to completion, Post team members helped apply the finishing touches to evoke the familiar aroma of a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats.
“Getting this beer into the glass was a true collaborative effort,” Randy Clay, Director of Brewing Operations at Lakeville Brewing Company, said. “Honey Bunches of Oats is such a great cereal and contains a lot of ingredients already familiar to us in the beer brewing process, which made it a natural choice.”
Cheers to Keeping it Local
This collaboration is a tribute to local craftsmanship, with both companies proudly headquartered in Lakeville, Minn. Even the honey used to give it the signature Honey Bunches of Oats flavor was sourced from nearby Dennison, Minn.
Opened in 2016 by Lakeville natives Glen and Kate Bruestle and Don and Megan Seiler, Lakeville Brewing company is a locally owned and operated brewpub, meaning it has a restaurant operating in conjunction with an onsite brewery. It’s a place where families can enjoy a casual meal, a group of friends can come for a fun night out, or anyone can just stop by for excellent food and fresh craft beer and cider.
So, whether you’re a cereal lover, a craft beer enthusiast, or both, stop in for a pint of Honey Bunches of Blonde for a delicious pairing of breakfast nostalgia and brewery creativity.
